What every world leader should know
by Dennis D. Hayes
Please…before you send our sons and daughters to die for causes and becauses…you should know something.
It cannot be about hatred. It cannot be about lies, apprehension, greed, or deceit. It matters not the envy, the craftiness, the treachery, or the despair. Of no consequence or purpose are cruelty, superstition, guilt, or revenge. Useless is anger, arrogance, and contempt. Let go of embarrassment, indifference, laziness, and doubt.
But cling to love.
Hold fast that one precious moment that first opened your heart to joy, affection, respect, and wonder. Have the courage and resolve, the hope and the pleasure, the nobleness and the dignity to choose…peace. Look into the eyes of a child to find trust and reverence. Then gather this knowledge and give it not only to yourself, but also to all for whom you care.
How you ask? Place yourself in either of the roles of the following poem. Know that what you are about to feel is not only what you can give, but what you must endeavor to never take away. Pay attention…for you are about to have….
An Incredible Night
The room glowed with only the slightest hint of blue,
Tranquility, calmness; so serene,
The scent in the air, the candles, the champagne,
Emitting anticipation of events unforeseen.
So carefully prepared and enchanting,
Was this elegant display of his charm,
My soul was touched (among other things!)
Making me feel fuzzy and warm.
The tub was filled with bubbles,
And I was bathed by candlelight,
As if I befitted royalty,
…I was truly a queen tonight.
He explored and massaged every inch of me,
An unexperienced level of passion unveiled,
Every new sensation an awakening,
Of a fervor, uncurtailed.
I then descended into a heavenly slumber
Every element of my being consumed,
Satiated, with gentle arms around me,
And the lingering scent of sweet perfume.
Had I known what was to come (no pun intended)
I’d probably have avoided the pleasure,
Because of the element of the factor of fear,
Of “feeling” too much to measure.
I’ve never before allowed myself
To know abandon so complete,
You’ve opened what so long has been suppressed
With a conclusion that’s bittersweet.
I cannot really thank you enough,
For you’ve freed a spirit that’s been entombed
That didn’t think it would ever breathe again,
That’s known such sadness and gloom.
You’ve accomplished what I thought no man could
You’ve given myself back to me,
You’ve validated the person you think I am
And given hope to who I know I can be.
YOU’RE THE BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD. THANK YOU!
An Incredible Night
