First black president to reinstate slavery?
by Larken Rose
When tyrants want to take the next big step towards totalitarianism, they usually toss out some “trial balloons,” both to see how people react and to begin desensitizing people to the new fascist agenda. If they’re smart, they first propose a big leap toward totalitarianism, and then cut it back to a small step. By contrast, the peasants will not only be pleased with the smaller step, but will be trained to think that the larger step is at least debatably a good idea.
The American tyrants, and those in other countries, have done this over and over again with “gun control” (peasant disarmament), taxation, regulation, and so on. They suggest something startlingly bad, then scale it back to only mildly obnoxious, and pass it. And they keep doing it over and over again, until they’ve imposed all sorts of things that in the past seemed outrageous. And since hardly anyone thinks from principle, it works. Most people just compare what is being proposed to what already is, assuming that what already is must be more or less rational. For example, the feds steal half of what everyone earns, and then bicker over little increases here and there, each one of which doesn’t seem all that important. Whether you’re a 49% slave or a 50% doesn’t make much difference, and those accustomed to their slavery aren’t about to insist on 0% slavery. That would require them to think based upon principles, which most Americans are utterly incapable of.
A recent trial balloon of the Obama Regime came in the form of H.R. 45, proposing national gun registration, and enough “regulations” to basically amount to universal disarmament. It won’t pass, not now anyway, but the Nazis wanted to see how people would react to the idea, and begin to get the people used to it. For now, they’ll take smaller steps, like reinstating the “Depriving the People of the Means of Resistance Act” of 2009–also known as the reinstatement of the Clinton “Assault Weapons Ban.” (The weapons targeted there are not used in any significant amount of crime, but are used throughout the world to resist tyrannical regimes. So why does the government not want you to have them? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.)
But, among all the fascist “trial balloons” already being floated by the Obama Regime–and there are quite a few–one recently came out that is particularly absurd. Again, the real intent, and the real long term goal, was included in the initial proposal, but has since disappeared from what is likely to pass in the near future. Again, the tyrants want us getting used to the idea, while pretending to “compromise” by toning down their fascism for the time being.
I am speaking of the Orwellianishly titled, “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education” (GIVE) Act. Now, anyone who has actually thought for a second or two about political philosophy will immediately recognize that having the word “volunteerism” in a “GOVERNMENT” Act is a bald-faced lie. The state is the OPPOSITE of voluntaryism and volunteerism. Everything it does, it does by forcible coercion, no matter how much fluff and spin is used in an effort to hide that fact.
As originally proposed, the law would have had the federal fascists beginning to consider the question of “[w]hether a workable, fair, and reasonable MANDATORY service requirement for all able young people could be developed.” (That wording disappeared from the bill before the House passed it.) A fine synonym for “mandatory service” is “involuntary servitude,” a.k.a. SLAVERY (prohibited by the 13th Amendment). In other words, Barack Obama and his fellow Stalinists are proposing reinstating slavery. Of course, it will be for NICE reasons, and have NOBLE goals, so the unthinking American public will probably fail to notice the PRINCIPLE involved: i.e., forced labor is a bad thing. (For now, let’s ignore the fact that an “income tax” already amounts to slavery.)
As one who thinks from principles, let me make this perfectly clear: If anyone ever tries to impose a “mandatory service requirement” on MY kid, the results will not be pleasant. There’s a reason for the Second Amendment. This is it.

Hey Larken,
since you topic is about slavery, I thought you might find this article interesting. It is about a possible draft, but it’s solutions deal with any involuntary service!
Draft may be needed in a year, military analysts warn
Arizona Republic | March 31, 2005
WASHINGTON - If American forces aren’t pulling out of Iraq in a year, a draft will be needed to meet manpower requirements, military analysts warned Wednesday.
With recruitment lagging and no end in sight for U.S. forces in Iraq, the “breaking point” for the nation’s all-volunteer military will be mid-2006, agreed Lawrence Korb, a draft opponent and assistant defense secretary in the Reagan administration, and Phillip Carter, a conscription advocate and former Army captain.
“America’s all-volunteer military simply cannot deploy and sustain enough troops to succeed in places like Iraq while still deterring threats elsewhere in the world,” Carter concluded in the March issue of “Washington Monthly.”
Korb is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank, and a senior adviser to the Center for Defense Information. Carter is attorney who writes on military affairs for Slate.com and other media. They debated at a symposium on the draft Wednesday.
While conceding that the Army, Marines, National Guard and Army Reserve — the branches serving most in Iraq — face recruitment difficulties, military officials have denied any plans to revive the draft, which was replaced by an all-volunteer force in 1973.
“The ‘D-word’ is the farthest thing from my thoughts,” Army Secretary Francis Harvey said at a Pentagon press briefing last week. He said the all-volunteer force has proven its value and applauded the performance of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“When you get over there, there’s no difference between the active, the Reserves and the National Guard. The quality is high across the board. … It’s seamless,” he said.
During his re-election campaign, President Bush declared flatly that he would not reinstate the draft. And there is little support for conscription on Capitol Hill.
“Today, no leading politician in either party will come anywhere near the idea — the draft having replaced Social Security as the third rail of American politics,” wrote Carter.
However, the analysts said that the all-volunteer army is on the verge of “breaking” under current circumstances. The 3rd Infantry Division based in Fort Stewart, Ga., and the 4th Infantry Division based in Fort Hood, Texas, are among the units that are being sent back for a second tour in Iraq.
The National Guard and Reserves historically depend on men and women leaving active duty to fill their ranks, Carter pointed out. But they’re not going to join if it means they will be sent right back to Iraq in an activated unit, he said.
Military men, women and machines are all suffering from repeated deployments.
“What keeps me awake at night is what will this all-volunteer force look like in 2007,” Richard Cody, the Army Vice Chief of Staff, told the Senate Armed Services Committee on March 16.
Korb, assistant secretary defense for manpower from 1981 through 1985, said the current rotation is unfair to the “patriotic” men and women who volunteered for military service and are stuck on a cycle in and out of Iraq. Since only a tiny segment of the populace is sacrificing, there is no political pressure to change the system, he said.
“If you had a draft right now, I think you’d be out of Iraq,” Korb said.
The American society “hasn’t gotten the message that we’re at war,” agreed Carter.
“Those at peril are completely divorced from those in power,” said Mark Shields, a syndicated columnist and TV commentator who moderated the symposium. “It’s ‘Patriotism Lite’ — you put a sticker on your SUV.”
“America has a choice,” wrote Carter. “It can be the world’s superpower or it can maintain the current all-voluntary military. But it probably can’t do both.”

Looks like our government may call for some type of draft or “national service” after the election. Here is an article on how to handle such a demand if you are interested:

How to Avoid the Draft or National Service
No dodging. Just refuse to volunteer. Here’s how —
I hope that you will not be offended if I tell you how the “draft” works. I realize that most people THINK they know how it works, but in most cases they are in error. And you can avoid the worry when ‘College and Canada will not be options [because] in December 2001, Canada and the U.S. signed a “smart border declaration,” which could be used to keep would-be draft dodgers in.’
Being willing (and eager) to fight for one’s country when it is truly in danger is one thing. Having the courage to refuse to fight in immoral and/or unconstitutional “wars” is quite another matter, I believe. No need to “dodge” the ball if they’re not allowed to hit you with it, if you merely ‘take your stand’ and refuse to VOLUNTEER!
1. Mr. A receives a “draft notice” and is told to report on a certain date to a certain place where he receives his physical and mental tests…then he is classified with a number indicating whether he is A1(first called) all the way down to 4F(unfit for duty).
2. Mr.A is told that he is to report for “induction” into the military and to appear at a certain military base for that purpose on a date specified.
3. By “LAW” he must appear there…or a warrant for his arrest will be issued.
4. Assuming he reports as directed he will have another brief physical and tests and then is told to “line up on the yellow line (painted on the floor)
5. A Recruiting Officer will then tell all those “joining the army (or whatever)to take one step forward…
(Oh, oh, THOSE WHO DID THIS JUST “VOLUNTEERED!”)This is done so that no one can “legally” claim they were “forced into involuntary servitude!”
“RAISE YOUR RIGHT HAND AND SWEAR ALLEGIANCE.” (almost everyone does!…thinking it must be REQUIRED!): “I, (name) do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America and will defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic, and will obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed over me, so help me God.”
6. Those who “voluntarily” stepped forward CANNOT NOW CLAIM THEY WERE “DRAFTED”…they stepped forward voluntarily and took the Oath voluntarily!
7. Assume Mr. B was smarter than Mr. A and HE DID NOT STEP FORWARD ANDTHEREFORE DID NOT TAKE THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE. (the recruiter will probably say something like this: “what’s the matter with you, don’t you know what’ step forward’ means?” Mr. B responds, “sure I do, but I AM NOT VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY…If you want me you must ‘take me’ against my will by force!”
8. All of those who “volunteered” will now be excused from the room…and the Mr. B will be cajoled with persuasive arguments…at first…then, when nothing works to change his mind he will be called names and insulted, possibly even assaulted by one or more military people present there as witnesses.
9.IF Mr. B does not weaken, stands his ground, eventually the tormentors will give up and have him arrested on some charge. However, there is NO lawful way that they can MAKE him go into the military…because of the Constitutional prohibition against “involuntary servitude”…which is why NO ONE IS TRULY EVER “DRAFTED” AND MUST BE “SEDUCED ” INTO VOLUNTEERING!

One thing to say at this point is what the cops are coached to say on the witness stand: “Am I ordered?”
If the recruiter says No, then obviously you’re OK. If the recruiter says Yes, then “By what authority do you, a military officer, order me, a civilian?” If the recruiter says anything else, repeat the question until you get Yes or No.
If the recruiter says “I order you by the authority of the United States Government” then “Which clause of the Constitution gives you, a military officer, to order me, a civilian?”
Another thing to say is: “Am I free to go?” If the recruiter says Yes, then obviously leave. If the recruiter says No, then “Am I under arrest?
Am I your prisoner? Am I kidnapped? If I’m not free, then what am I?” and again, keep repeating the question.
Another thing to say is: “I want an attorney.”
Another thing to say is, of course, nothing at all. I think I would go with “Am I free to go?” because if you get to Yes, then you can leave and he would look bad ordering an arrest. If you ask the question three times and don’t get a yes or no, then “Well I must be free to go, because I asked you three times and you won’t tell me I’m not.” Then I would slowly turn around and leave, and if he keeps trying to interact I would just keep repeating the question.
=== Here’s an excerpt from a book:
The Army induction officer instructed the draftees to “take one step forward” as their names were called, and said that step would signify their induction into the Army. When reluctant Willie’s name was called, he answered present, but did not step forward. After the ceremony, he went home instead of to camp. When the MP’s came for him, he went to court for a writ of habeas corpus to retain his freedom. “The officer himself,” Willie argued, “said the step forward is what would make me a soldier. As I didn’t take the step, I’m still a civilian and the Army has no claim on me.”
Counsel for the Army replied, “The Army isn’t being run by childish games. Willie and a hundred others appeared to be inducted, and he was inducted before the whole group as any fool there could plainly see.” Willie retained his civilian status. The court ruled that the draft law required some definite ceremony to transform a civilian into a soldier. As the Army decided to have one step forward constitute the ceremony, and Willie didn’t take the step, he wasn’t a soldier. U.S. Court of Appeals, 1954.

An. (sic) Patriot,
Thank you for citing a four-year old article entitled, “Draft may be needed in a year, military analysts warn.” As you may or may not know, the current year is 2009. The year of 2006 has already passed, and there was no military draft. Thank you for your concern however. Were the terrorists to acquire a time machine, and stir shit up in the past, the article you used to forward your argument might be of some relevance. Presuming your a proud supporter of the GOP, it is a knowing fact you completely disregard such minute details like dates and facts. I hope my pointing-out that 3 years have passed since a military draft was predicted has somewhat comforted your Glenn Bleck-esque, the world is coming to an end mentality.

Slavery? What? You’re equating a system that kidnapped or illegally (or at least unethically) bought people, transported them to another land, and bought and sold them like cattle VS Community Service Volunteerism? Are you extending this Slavery argument to also include churches and schools that require community service? There’s a GIGANTIC difference between volunteering for an organization or cause of one’s choice and a lifetime of being owned. How about the Peace Corps? Are they ’slaves’ as well? Give me a break. That part of your diatribe alone completely shoots any credibility you had in the beginning of the piece. Income tax is slavery?? Unfair, OK, maybe. Just don’t expect any services from the state, local, or federal government. You can plow your own roads, educate your own kids, and defend your own house from criminals. Way to whine.

Alex,
I posted the article from the past, because there are rumors that Obama is getting ready to propose a form of mandatory service and I want people to know he has no authority to force anyone into any such service. So, you should make sure you understand the article I posted, because it might help you fight against mandatory service in the future.
Randy,
Involuntary servitude is wrong no matter what your skin color is. (By the way, there were white slaves throughout history as well.) Second, mandatory service is NOT VOLUNTEERISM! That is Orwellian “double speak”! What? How many churches do you know that will try to put you in JAIL for not doing community service? Can a school make you do community service against your will, Randy? I don’t think so! Peace Corps? Wow, you really didn’t think this through Randy. Is anyone forced to join the Peace Corps, Randy? Apparently, you haven’t learned the difference between mandatory and voluntary. You really need to check out the definitions in a dictionary.
P.S. The federal income tax is a whole other discussion in itself. It would take a long discussion to answer that correctly. I think you should go look at sites like We the People Foundation for more information on that subject. As for your roads comment, most of the road maintenance is paid for by state taxes (i.e. on gasoline), not the federal income tax. As for you education, most of your education is paid for by state and local taxes as well. And finally, when has your federal government defended your house from a criminal. Do you call a federal cop to come to your house when you have been robbed? LOL City cops and county sheriffs are ALSO paid for with local taxes. If anybody should be whining here, it should be you, Randy. Your apparently were never taught about the Constitution in your history classes. Have you even read your state constitution, Randy? I suggest you study your state and local laws before you stick your foot in your mouth again. Your lack of knowledge is showing.
